Extraordinary Portrait and Still-Life Lens. The Canon 85mm f/1.2L II is a remarkable lens, and arguably the best portrait lens ever made. It’s a hefty piece of glass—almost as wide as it is long—with a “deliberate” focus speed (meaning it’s really not suited for fast action or sports shooting).

Incredibly Sharp with Great Bokeh. It remains incredibly sharp when wide open and beautifully blurs the out-of-focus background. It’s possible to shoot in near darkness or candlelight, and the depth of field when wide open is so narrow that you must often stop down to f/1.4 to get the subject’s entire face into focus.

Autofocus Microadjustment Required. If you plan to shoot at wide open at f/1.2, you should expect to do some autofocus microadjustment. If you’re not used to working with wide-aperture lenses, please read before deciding if this lens is a good choice for you.
