What’s Changed. The Canon 90D has a few key differences from . You get a newly designed 32.5MP sensor with a broader native ISO range, a 45-point all cross-type autofocus system when shooting through the viewfinder, a Dual Pixel autofocus system when using live view, faster continuous shooting, and longer battery life.
High-Res APS-C Sensor. The 32.5MP APS-C CMOS sensor produces high-resolution still images, and high-quality UHD 4K30p and Full HD 720p video. The DIGIC 8 Image Processor also offers improved low-light performance with a native ISO sensitivity of 100-25,600. The updated processor also enables the camera to shoot 10 fps in continuous shooting mode and 7 fps in live view.
Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus. Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus system provides extremely fast and accurate live view autofocus performance. It features 5,481 selectable autofocus points and supports continuous focusing in live view still mode. On the video front, there is also a Movie Servo AF mode, which offers smooth focusing when changing distance within a shot—essentially built-in rack focusing for video shooting. You also have the option to set tracking sensitivity, AF speed, and face tracking priority, much like what you had in the 80D.
45-Point All Cross-Type Autofocus System. Still shooters will find the aid of a wide-area 45-point cross-type phase detection autofocus system. That means that you get really accurate, really fast autofocus even in low-light situations. Four modes allow you to hone in on specific areas, including single-point AF, Zone AF (nine zones to choose from), Large Zone AF (three even larger zones to choose from) and 45-point AF auto selection.
3.0-Inch Articulating Touchscreen LCD. The large 3.0-inch 1.04m-dot vari-angle touchscreen LCD monitor is great for shooting and image review.
Other Advanced Features. The 90D offers built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to both control the camera and review images from a compatible iOS/Android device with Canon’s . You get 4K time-lapse capability, 4K frame grabs for effectively shooting 8MP stills at up to 30 fps, and revised 220000-pixel AE metering sensor, and in-camera RAW editing for those who are interested. The camera records its RAW/JPEG images and video files to , and uses the with a rated output of 1300 shots per charge.

The Canon 90D is my personal camera and has been one of the most popular DSLRs for YouTubers and photo enthusiasts.
It boasts a 32.5MP image sensor giving it a higher resolution than any APS-C or full-frame Canon DSLR except the EOS 5DS. It can do uncropped 4K video, and it’s lightweight, extremely ergonomic, and offers a wide range of user-customization options. The 45-point cross-type autofocus and high-speed continuous shooting up to 10 FPS makes this camera PERFECT for wildlife or sports photography, while the 3-inch rotating flip-out LCD makes vlogging and taking selfies a breeeeeze.
I literally take this thing everywhere I go.
Pros: Small, light weight, great image resolution, rotating touchscreen LCD
Cons: Cropped sensor
