Fuji G-mount
-
Nifty Fifty (equivalent)
-
High-quality build
-
100MP+ resolving power
Nifty Fifty (Equivalent). With a focal length equivalent to 50mm after sensor crop factor, the GF 63mm f/2.8 R WR is the go-to standard prime for the GFX mirrorless. The f/2.8 aperture isn’t going to be optimal for candlelight portraiture, but it will allow pretty good low-light performance within reason.
Build Quality. Like the GFX, Fuji’s GF lenses are dust and weather-sealed for shooting in challenging conditions. Each lens features a manual aperture ring with new C (Command) position to allow aperture adjustment via command dial.

Take: This was Fuji’s original normal-range prime lens for their GFX medium-format system. It’s an absolutely stellar lens. It’s really flexible as a portrait and environmental portrait lens, and every time I rent the GFX system this lens is a go-to and stays on there most of the time. I like that it’s also relatively compact and not as heavy as some of the other lenses for the system.
