News (Camera) You Can Use. The JVC GY-HM660 ProHD Mobile News Streaming Camera offers a plethora of user-friendly features that make it ideal for shooting news footage. It offers simultaneous live streaming and recording, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi, fast footage transfer, three CMOS sensors, an integrated 23x optical zoom lens, and much more.
Pro-Grade Live Streaming. This camera can stream live HD/SD and proxy video/audio files via network at up to 12 Mbps, making it great for capturing and broadcasting news events as they happen. You just need a Wi-Fi adapter, 4G LTE modem, or a LAN connector that plugs into the GY-HM660’s USB port.
Don’t Miss a Second. Because you never know when the action’s going to start, the GY-HM660’s Pre-Recording feature continually records up to fifteen seconds in its cache memory. This means you can press Record after the fact and still capture the event, all without having to worry about wasting recording time or memory-card space. On top of that, the Backup Recording mode uses the camera’s dual SD slots to function as a continuous backup. Recording to one memory card is controlled by the Rec trigger, while the camera automatically, continuously records to the second card.
Dual-Codec Recording and Fast Transfer. The GY-HM660’s dual-codec recording feature can simultaneously record HD and SD or HD and 1/4 HD, letting you easily create duplicate backup files as you’re shooting. This gives your production a broad range of workflow options. Finally, you can quickly transfer footage from the camera via an FTP server while you’re recording.
Newsworthy Imaging System. This camera features three 1/3-inch 12-bit CMOS sensors with 1920 × 1280 resolution, which provide the maximum sensitivity and minimum noise that you need for electronic news gathering.
Integrated 23x Fujinon Zoom Lens. The built-in Fujinon 23x wide-angle zoom gives you solid magnification, a 29mm-667mm equivalent focal range, and a fast f/1.6-3.0 aperture that delivers exceptional performance in low light and solid brightness at the tele end. This lens also includes optical image stabilization, servo zoom, a four-position (clear, 1/4, 1/16, and 1/64) ND filter, and manual focus and iris rings.
Multi-Format Support. This camera’s dual FALCONBRID engine supports major codecs and file formats, including .MOV for Apple Final Cut Pro, .MP4 for XDCAM EX cameras, and .MTS for AVCHD compatibility. It also supports MPEG-2 35 Mbps and AVCHD 28 Mbps formats.
High-Resolution LCD. The GY-HM660’s 3.5-inch, 920K-pixel, high-res LCD includes a Focus Assist function that highlights the edges of objects in the viewfinder in red, green, and blue to help keep you focused. Its top-mounted design makes it ideal for use at a variety of angles.
Cutting-Edge Connectivity. The GY-HM660 boasts an array of connections for serious versatility. You get SDI (HD/SD) out, HDMI (HD/SD) out with 60p support, TC Sync in/out, AV out, two USB ports (one host, one device), two 3-pin XLR ports (MIC, LINE, and +48V), an Aux in for a wireless receiver, a stereo headphone out, and a 2.5mm remote control port.
