The Leica 50mm f/2 Summicron-M is a classic lens for use with Leica M series cameras, especially appropriate for the full-frame / M262. Key features include:
-
Excellent edge-to-edge sharpness and contrast
-
Apochromatic optical design
-
Automatic vignetting correction
-
Built-in, retractable lens hood
Exceptional Image Quality. Among fast aperture standard lenses, the Leica 50mm f/2 Summicron-M offers exceptional image quality. Its sharpness and contrast are great, even at its 2.3-foot minimum focusing distance.
Advanced Optical Design. This lens’s eight-element/five-group apochromatic design includes three anomalous partial-dispersion elements, two high-refractive index elements, and one aspherical element to improve edge-to-edge sharpness, contrast, and clarity, all while eliminating aberrations. A “floating element” retains outstanding image quality from the 2.3-foot minimum focusing distance to infinity.
Manual-Focusing Design. The 50mm f/2’s manual-focusing design gives you smooth, precise control over focus placement.
6-Bit Coding. This lens’s 6-bit coding allows the camera to apply optional “final-stage” software-based vignetting correction. The built-in, retractable lens hood provides protection from lens flare, and the front of the lens barrel is threaded to accept 39mm filters.
