The Nikon 60mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Micro is a versatile lens for macro and general photography. Key features include:
-
Excellent sharpness
-
7.3” minimum focusing distance
-
Fast, nearly silent autofocus and full-time manual focus
-
9-bladed aperture
Like all true macro lenses, it’s extremely sharp, even wide open and at close range. It provides true 1:1 reproduction and has a 7.3” minimum focusing distance. It has a Silent Wave Motor for quick autofocusing, a non-rotating front element, a 9-bladed aperture ring, ED glass, and Nano Crystal Coat—basically every piece of high-end technology Nikon has at its disposal—in a reasonably priced macro lens.

An absolutely great lens that nobody talks about much. It’s sharp as a, well, as a macro. It’s small, light, and easy to carry around as a “just in case” lens. I personally prefer a bit longer working distance in a Macro, but on the other hand, I hate carrying a big Macro unless I know that’s what I’ll be shooting, so this is perfect. It also makes a nice portrait lens.
