The new version of the Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 OS lens is optically identical to the old version. You do get several improvements that may be worthwhile. The first doesn’t sound like much, but it is: an improved tripod collar that really helps you handhold the lens if you choose to do that. The second is adjustability on the which allows you to microfocus adjust for 4 different focusing distances at each of 4 zoom ranges. It also lets you adjust AF speed (faster, but perhaps less accurate or slower and perhaps more accurate) and the OS system (I still haven’t figured out exactly what the 3 different OS settings do, but they do change things).
