Fast f/1.4 Aperture Wide Angle. The Sigma 28mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art for Nikon’s fast f/1.4 aperture enables great low-light performance, wide-angle images, and shallow depth of field. The wide-angle perspective is popular for landscape and street photography. Using a DX-format camera? You’ll have a focal length equivalent to 42mm.
High-Quality Optics. As a part of Sigma’s Art lens line, this lens goes through Sigma’s rigorous A1 testing to ensure high image quality. Three aspherical elements help to eliminate sagittal coma flare, distortion, and axial chromatic aberration, while two “F” Low-Dispersion elements work in unison to correct for chromatic aberrations throughout the entire focusing range while ensuring high image sharpness, clarity, and contrast. The Super Multi-Layer Coating minimizes lens flare and ghosting, helping to provide high color accuracy.
Hyper Sonic Motor Autofocus System. Provides fast, smooth, and quiet operation in a wide variety of shooting situations. You can also manually override the autofocus motor at any time by rotating the focusing ring, giving you quick fine-tuning ability.
Dock Compatible. This lens is compatible with the (separate rental item), allowing you fine-tune certain parameters through the Sigma Optimization Pro software.

You’re probably looking at this lens because you read my blurb on the 24mm f1.4, aren’t you? You’ve arrived at your destination. This lens is breathtakingly sharp and for a Sigma Art lens, actually rather small. By small I mean not much bigger than a non-Sigma lens. 28mm may seem an odd focal length for some, but at the time I’m writing this the Sigma 28mm is clearly sharper than any 24mm, 28mm, or 35mm lens except arguably the Zeiss Otus 28mm. It is sharper than the Otus, but Otusophiles will argue about it.
