Sony E 10-18mm F/4 OSS

The Sony E 10-18mm f/4 OSS is an excellent ultra-wide angle zoom lens made for Sony E-mount cameras and camcorders. Key features include:

Wide-Angle Zoom. The Sony E 10-18mm f/4 OSS’s 35mm-equivalent focal length of 15-27mm makes it great for expansive landscape photography.

Excellent in Low Light. The constant f/4 aperture and built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization (up to four stops) make it useful for low-light shooting without fluctuating ISO and shutter speed settings, and the internal focusing design allows the lens to remain the same size when adjusting focus.

Advanced Optical Design. Optically, the lens includes three aspherical elements that help to provide high-contrast images with very little spherical aberration and distortion. A super extra-low dispersion glass element also helps to keep chromatic aberrations at bay.

Close Focusing. This lens offers a minimum focus distance of 9.84 inches for exaggerating perspective, and its 7-blade circular aperture creates very pleasing out-of-focus highlights. A petal-type lens hood is included to help prevent lens flare.

I’m not a big fan of the Alpha lenses on adapters for NEX – they’re OK, but hard to set up a tripod with the large lens and little camera, etc. The Sony 10-18 f/4 OSS for NEX would probably be my first choice of a wide angle for the NEX system. It’s not quite as sharp right at 18mm as some of the Alpha wide lenses, but quite good right up to that point so it’s an excellent wide angle.
