The Zeiss Loxia E 21mm f/2.8 Distagon is a high-quality manual-focus lens designed for full-frame E-mount cameras like the / / . Key features include:
-
Great for landscape, nature, and architectural photography
-
9.8-inch minimum focusing distance
-
Advanced optics for high-quality images
-
Smooth manual focusing
Very Wide Angle. The wide-angle perspective is popular for landscape, nature, interior, and architectural photography. You can also use the Loxia 21mm f/2.8 lens with APS-C cameras for an approximate 32mm-equivalent focal length.
Very Close Focus. When the wide perspective is coupled with the 9.8-in. minimum focusing distance, foreground subjects become exaggerated and a broad sense of space is created in the image.
Advanced Optics. The Loxia 21mm Distagon continues Zeiss’s pedigree of cutting-edge optics. The lens features four anomalous partial-dispersion elements and one aspherical element that control distortions and aberrations while retaining sharpness and clarity at any focus distance. The enhanced Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating controls ghosting and flare for a contrasty, color-neutral image that still flaunts that famous high micro-contrast “Zeiss look.”
High-Quality Build. The all-metal barrel gives the Loxia 21mm a solid feel with a weather-resistant gasket at the lens mount to protect against the elements.
Click On. Click Off. The 21mm Loxia line offers an aperture ring featuring 1/2-stop clicks throughout the f/2.8-22 range, as well as the ability to mechanically switch to clickless operation.

Take: I’m a big fan of the Loxia lenses as a whole, but I especially like the 21mm Distagon. Many of the wide options for the Sony cameras are large or heavy and this lens is the opposite. It’s small and lightweight, and it even has de-clicked apertures if you’re shooting video and want seamless aperture adjustments. It’s also been corrected for Sony, and you don’t have to worry about smeared edges or color shifts in the corner like you would if you adapted the similarly sized Zeiss ZM 21mm.
