The Zeiss Milvus ZE 135mm f/2 is a high-quality manual-focus lens designed for Canon DSLRs, and an update to the popular Zeiss ZE 135mm f/2 APO Sonnar. Key features include:
-
Short-telephoto/long-portrait length
-
Narrow depth of field and great bokeh
-
Smooth, fully manual focusing
-
Advanced optics for high-quality images
Telephoto Prime. The 135mm focal length gives you great reach as a short-telephoto/long-portrait lens. The f/2 aperture keeps the depth of field narrow, makes for some great bokeh, and allows you to keep shooting in low light.
Advanced Optics. The Zeiss Milvus ZE 135mm f/2 for Canon continues Zeiss’s legacy of phenomenal optics. This lens features four anomalous partial-dispersion glass elements that control distortions and aberrations while retaining sharpness and clarity at any focus distance. The enhanced T* anti-reflective coating controls ghosting and flare for a color-neutral image that still flaunts that famous high micro-contrast “Zeiss look.”
High-Quality Build. The ZE 135mm Milvus features a weather-resistant construction with internal seals to guard against dust and moisture, while a blue sealing ring at the lens mount protects the lens-camera interface. The all-metal lens barrel has a frosted, anodized surface for increased durability.
Modern Manual Focus. This fully manual-focus lens features a 268° focus throw and rubberized focus ring for improved tactile control, while still providing electrical communication with the camera to control aperture and communicate EXIF data.

If you like shooting at 135mm, this lens is an excellent choice. It’s really sharp, has smooth bokeh, and reasonable (for the focal length and aperture) size. Manual focus at 135mm takes a little effort and is probably best done in live view, but the images you get with this lens make it completely worth it. A superb lens with no flaws, really. Oh, and if you don’t like shooting at 135mm, you don’t know what you’re missing. Especially if you shoot portraits.
